Whole-Home Filtration in Flower Mound

One filter system on your main line means better-tasting, better-smelling water from every faucet and shower in your home. We test your water first, then lay out the scope and what sets the price on paper before anyone picks up a wrench.

What a whole-home filter does for you

A whole-home filter sits where water enters your house, usually in the garage or near the main shutoff. Everything downstream gets filtered: kitchen and bathroom taps, showers, the washing machine, the ice maker. Most systems pair a sediment prefilter with a large tank of activated carbon that pulls out the chlorine taste and smell city water carries.

It's the right call when the complaint is about the whole house: a pool smell in the shower, dry skin after bathing, or water that tastes off no matter which tap you use. If drinking water is your only concern, our Reverse Osmosis page covers an under-sink system that may suit you better and cost less.

You'll see everything in writing first. Our quote names the exact equipment, describes the plumbing we'll do and explains each thing that moves the total. If something changes on install day, we talk with you before doing anything. Nothing gets added quietly.

What the job covers

Testing before any recommendation

Your water gets tested at the first visit so the system fits what really flows through your pipes. If carbon filtration won't solve it, we let you know.

Sediment prefilter stage

A basic cartridge goes first and catches sand, rust flakes and other fine debris ahead of the carbon. The carbon lasts longer, and your faucet screens stay clearer.

Carbon tank sized to your house

The tank is matched to how many bathrooms you have and how much water your family uses at one time, so pressure holds when the shower and dishwasher run together. For chloramine-treated water, we use catalytic carbon, which removes it better than standard carbon.

Bypass valve and a neat connection

A bypass valve lets water flow around the filter during service, so every tap in the house keeps working. We tie the system into your main line with proper fittings and leave the work area as clean as we found it.

Flush, start-up and walkthrough

We rinse the new media, inspect each connection for leaks, and show you the bypass and when to change the prefilter.

Signs your home could use whole-home filtration

Your bathroom smells like a pool
Steam from a hot shower carries chlorine into the room, which is why you notice it most there. Filtering at the main line removes it before the water even gets to your water heater.
Water tastes different at every tap
If the kitchen, bathroom and refrigerator all share the same off taste, a single filter at the point of entry fixes all of them at once.
Dry skin and dull hair after bathing
Many people notice softer-feeling skin once chlorine is out of their shower water, especially through long North Texas summers when showers come twice a day.
Pitcher and faucet filters everywhere
Buying and swapping cartridges for several taps adds up. One system with one maintenance schedule is simpler.
Grit on aerators and showerheads
Debris collecting in faucet screens or appliance inlets is a sign a prefilter would protect your plumbing and fixtures.

How the work goes, from first call to clean water

  1. 1

    Your call and water test

Tell us what's bothering you about your water. We set a time to come out, test it and look at where your main line enters the house.

  2. 2

    Everything on paper first

We write down the system we recommend, its size, the plumbing involved and each factor behind the price. Take your time, ask questions and compare.

  3. 3

    Install day

The job usually wraps up well before evening. Your water is off for only a short stretch while we mount the tanks, connect to the main line and fit the bypass. Drop cloths go down wherever we work, and the mess stays in our area.

  4. 4

    Flush, check and hand-off

We run the system until the water is clear, check pressure at your taps and walk you through simple upkeep before we leave.

What goes into the price of a whole-home filter

Every house is set up differently, so we quote yours only after seeing it in person. Each item below gets its own line on your written quote, so the total is easy to follow. Standard professional installation included for qualifying homes, and at the visit we'll say plainly whether your home qualifies.

How big the system is
More bathrooms and more water running at once call for a larger tank so flow stays strong. The bigger tank costs more at the start, but it goes longer before the media needs changing.
The type of carbon inside
Standard activated carbon handles chlorine well. Catalytic carbon costs more and does a better job with chloramine.
Where your main line comes in
When the main comes through a garage wall with open room around it, the hookup goes fast. A line tucked behind finished drywall, or one that must be moved, takes more labor and more fittings. Any extra plumbing shows up on your quote before you agree to it.
Added equipment
Putting a softener or UV unit in with the filter changes the parts list and how everything is laid out. We only suggest them when your test results point that way.

Questions about whole-home filtration

Will my water pressure drop after the filter goes in?
Not if the tank is the right size for your home. We match it to how many fixtures you run at the same time, then test pressure at a few taps before we pack up. Pressure problems almost always come from a tank that's too small, so we size carefully instead of guessing.
Do I still need a drinking water system?
Not always. Carbon filtration makes all your water taste and smell better. If you want an extra step for drinking and cooking water, a reverse osmosis unit at the kitchen sink adds that, and we can price both together.
Is this the same as a water softener?
No. A carbon filter removes chlorine and improves taste and odor. A softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale. Our Water Softeners page explains when one is worth it, and your test results help answer that.
How much upkeep is involved?
The sediment prefilter needs changing a few times a year, depending on your water and usage. The carbon media lasts much longer before it needs replacing. We show you how to swap the cartridge yourself.
Will the price change once you start?
The quote you approve is the job we do. If we run into something we couldn't see beforehand, we stop, explain it and get your okay before any change. You won't find surprise add-ons on the final bill.
